RonKubek is a realtor who demonstrates brilliant leadership on the Central Saanich Council. He has helped many developers navigate through loopholes in the rules and he’s quick to mock opponents and dismiss community interests to promote urban sprawl. Kubek has even harassed the CRD and chastised them for supporting the Regional Growth Strategy. This man is a true hero.
IdaChong is the MLA for Oak Bay and Gordon Head in Victoria. Unlike other politicians Ida doesn't waste her energy on diplomacy and consultation. She was unapologetic about the 2007 TFL deletions, she deferred responsibility for the luxury Marina project that falls directly in her cabinet portfolio and she refuses feedback from people who don't live in her riding. It's refreshing to find a leader who doesn't let democracy slow down her efforts to cover this island with pavement.
Susan is a third term councilor in Central Saanich who has been a consistent supporter of urban sprawl on the Peninsula. She has a brilliant way of acknowledging both sides of a debate but when push comes to shove she always votes for more pavement. Susan's recent accomplishments include approval of the Senanus Pipeline project and casting the deciding vote to approve the Vantreight proposal.
Stew helped approve a beautiful monument to progress: Langford's 35 million dollar Bridge to Nowhere is a great example of what politicians can accomplish by ignoring the public and rewriting their own rules. Thanks to him Langford also has a subdivision sprawling up the side of Bear Mountain that gives us all something to look at from the top of mount Finlayson.
JackMar has been the Mayor of Central Saanich for 5 years and his soft, passive style of leadership is the perfect cover for a pro-pavement agenda. He deftly avoided taking a stand on the Vantreight issue to protect his image, but there is no questioning his true values. Last spring he publicly advocated abolishing urban containment boundaries so that municipalities could build roads and parking lots where ever they want. If there we more leaders like Jack around we would have a much easier time paving all of our farm land.
Ender Ilkay is a Real Estate speculator who has been working diligently to bring more pavement onto our Wild Coast. In 2009 his proposal to build a massive resort complex on former TFL land was met with enormous community opposition, but that didn't slow him down. He waited quietly in the wings until the media attention faded and now he's back with another proposal that will effectively increase the population of Jordan River by 1000%.
